Ireland gets it right!

As part of our campaign to Terminate the Terminals, www.fairandopengamblingireland.net advertised in the Friday 17th October editions of the Irish Times and Irish Independent.

On Monday 20th October the Irish Times reported Irish Labour justice spokesman Pat Rabbitte describing Fixed Odds Betting Terminals as "turbo-charged one-arm bandits" and the "crack-cocaine of gambling". Mr Rabbitte also stated that Labour would not take part in a committee on gambling unless the Terminals were excluded.

On Tuesday 21st October the Irish Times reported that Sean Barrett, head of the committee on gambling, agreed with the Irish Government Casino Review Group that found against allowing Terminals in betting shops. Mr. Barrett stated that "They [the Terminals] are not on the agenda."
